Another duck season has come to an end, and while the decoys are drying, the boats are getting cleaned, and the gear is slowly finding its way back into storage, we're already finding ourselves looking back on all the memories that made the 2025 season one to remember.
When we started this season, we knew there would be early mornings, long drives, cold hands, and plenty of time spent staring at the sky waiting for wings. What we didn't know was just how many incredible moments would come along the way. From the southern marshes of Texas all the way to adventures farther north—and even crossing state lines in search of new experiences—this season was filled with miles traveled, new places explored, and memories we wouldn't trade for anything.
For us, duck hunting has always been about more than the harvest. It's about the moments in between. It's the quiet mornings sitting in the blind before sunrise, the laughs shared with friends, the stories told after the hunt, and the memories made with the people who make every trip special. Some days were filled with ducks flying, and some days were simply filled with good conversations, beautiful sunrises, and enjoying the outdoors together. Either way, they were all good days.
Of course, no Marsh Couple Chronicles adventure would be complete without our four-legged kids. Our dogs have officially proven that they are not just hunting companions—they are family. They traveled with us, ran through the marsh, made countless retrieves, and provided plenty of entertainment along the way. They also made sure we never forgot their most important rule: wherever we go, they go.
And just in case anyone was wondering if our dogs are spoiled... they have plenty of evidence to support their case. These pups have never once had to question whether they are loved. They have their own gear, their own spot in the truck, their own treats in the blind bag, and somehow—despite having an entire bed available—they always manage to take up about 90% of ours. There is nothing quite like waking up hanging off the edge of the mattress while your dog is stretched out comfortably in the middle like they paid the mortgage.
One of our favorite memories from this season wasn't even in a traditional blind. It was one of those moments that perfectly captures what duck hunting is all about—having fun and making memories wherever you are. There we were, enjoying a little Christmas spirit, dressed in our favorite Christmas pajamas, and somehow turning our own front yard into a duck hunting adventure. It may not have been the fanciest setup, and we may have looked a little ridiculous, but the laughs were worth it. Because at the end of the day, it's not always about where you hunt—it's about who you're with and the stories you get to tell afterward.
This season gave us so many reasons to be thankful. The miles traveled, the friends who shared the blind with us, the new places discovered, the laughs along the way, and the unforgettable moments with our dogs are what make this lifestyle so special.
As we close the chapter on the 2025 duck season, we aren't just looking back at the birds harvested—we're looking back at the adventures, the friendships, the muddy paws, and the memories that will last long after the last shot of the season.
The marsh may be quiet for now, but the stories from this season will be talked about for years to come.
